Segment of a CCD image acquired by a DAMIC detector after an exposure on the surface during X-ray calibration. Each pixel is 15 um x 15 um. The high spatial resolution of the CCD allows for powerful particle identification.
I am interested in the detection of weakly interacting particles from extraterrestrial sources to understand both the properties of their interactions and their astrophysical or cosmological origin.

My background is in the measurement of low-energy (< 5 MeV) Solar neutrinos with the Borexino detector. I have also done work in preparation for the detection of the prompt neutrino burst from the next core-collapse Galactic Supernova.

Currently I am working with J. Zhou and Prof. Privitera on the DAMIC experiment, which aims to employ CCD technology for the possible detection of GeV-scale cold dark matter particles.
